In the fall, OCTA will begin a study of one of Orange County’s major transit corridors to address existing and future transportation needs. In February, OCTA completed OC Transit Vision, a 20-year plan for enhancing and expanding public transit in Orange County. The plan identifies the most promising streets for major transit improvements and Bristol Street was selected as one of the initial segments for study based on its potential to increase OCTA transit ridership.
Bristol Street provides access to several key destinations, including Santa Ana College, South Coast Plaza and the South Coast Metro area, and has significant potential to connect to other transit modes, including John Wayne Airport, trains, buses and OC Streetcar. The study will examine the Bristol Street Corridor from Santa Ana to the South Coast Metro area.
The Bristol Street Corridor Study will serve as an initial planning study to evaluate a range of possible transit options and to identify the best option that has local support. Six conceptual alternatives will be developed, and various modes will be considered, including bus, bus rapid transit, and rapid streetcar.
