As part of the I-405 Improvement Project, OCTA is replacing, widening and improving 18 bridges between the SR-73 freeway in Costa Mesa and I-605 near the L.A. County line.
Late last month, 37 local leaders gathered at night to watch the demolition of the second half of the Bushard bridge in Huntington Beach. OCTA Vice Chair Steve Jones and Director Barbara Delgleize were in attendance along with council members and staff from the corridor cities.
OCTA organized the viewing to provide a front-row seat to the ongoing construction activity taking place to help alleviate congestion on one of the country’s busiest freeways. When the project is completed, travelers will have access to an additional regular lane in each direction and the 405 Express Lanes, which will incorporate the existing carpool lanes and a new lane in each direction between SR-73 and I-605.
