Bike the Santa Ana River Trail from Hills to Beach

In an Orange County Register article, bike riders can discover a great way to go from Yorba Linda to the ocean on the Santa Ana River Trail “without having to deal with that pesky traffic.” The article includes a map and slideshow of some of the sights along the way. Read the article here.

Designated as a National Recreation Trail in 1977, the Santa Ana River Trail extends from Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach to the northern border of Orange County in Yorba Linda, and beyond. The trail passes through several cities and allows easy access to numerous parks, Angel Stadium, the Honda Center, and many retail and entertainment centers. Future plans for this trail are ambitious – 110 miles of uninterrupted trail from Bike Bear Lake to Huntington Beach.

Sections of the Santa Ana River Trail are included in the OC Loop, a vision for 66 miles of seamless connections and an opportunity for people to bike, walk and connect to some of California’s most scenic beaches and inland reaches. About 70% of the OC Loop is already in place and is used by thousands of people. Currently, nearly 46 miles use existing off-street trails along the San Gabriel River, Coyote Creek, Santa Ana River and the Coastal/Beach Trail. To learn more about the OC Loop, click here.
