Orange County is home to some of the most beautiful and protected wilderness areas in the country. Through its Environmental Mitigation Program, OCTA has purchased and permanently preserved more than 1,300 acres of open space and is actively restoring more than 350 acres throughout the county.
OCTA’s 12-member Environmental Oversight Committee (EOC) plays a vital role in ensuring the long-term protection and stewardship of these resources. The program is funded by voter-approved Measure M, Orange County’s half-cent sales tax dedicated to transportation improvements.
OCTA is currently accepting applications for a public member to serve on the EOC. The agency is seeking individuals with a demonstrated interest and/or expertise in transportation, conservation, and environmental mitigation related to infrastructure projects.
The committee includes OCTA Board Chair Jamey Federico, Director Mark Tettemer, and local representatives, as well as representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Committee members are expected to dedicate approximately 12 hours per year to meetings and related activities and serve three-year terms.
Interested applicants must submit an application and resume by Friday, March 20, 2026. Learn more and apply here.
