Construction is underway on the OC Streetcar, Orange County’s first modern electric streetcar, which will run for just more than 4 miles between the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center (SARTC) and Garden Grove. The planned route serves downtown Santa Ana’s dense employment areas, including county and local government offices and courthouses in the Civic Center area and connects to OCTA’s busiest bus routes.
Work has been ongoing throughout the alignment, including water pipeline installation and storm drain construction, installation of overhead wire poles, preparation work for the streetcar tracks, and activities at the bridges over Westminster Avenue and the Santa Ana River and at the future maintenance and storage facility site.
OCTA strives to support businesses as construction continues in this thriving employment hub whose downtown is filled with eateries and entertainment.
To let people know that businesses are open during construction, signage has been placed at major locations along the alignment in high-visibility areas including the parking structures in Downtown Santa Ana. The signs also include project contact information.
