Twice a year, OCTA goes to the dogs – in a good way. Each spring and fall, OCTA provides a free day of public transportation experience for service animals and their trainers.
On Saturday, October 5, Service Animal Training Day will be back in Anaheim at ARTIC to help these special companions become more comfortable with the sounds, movement and layout of a bus or train while increasing the independence and confidence of their handlers.
Trainers and their animals can take unlimited rides on an OC Bus, including the sights and sounds of Downtown Disney District® and Anaheim Garden Walk®, along a special route designed to provide the best and most complete experience. In addition, participants can ride a Metrolink train; standard Metrolink fares apply.
Human participants can register here or at the event.
OCTA is one of the only public transportation agencies in the country to offer this opportunity. Approximately 20,000 dogs work as assistance animals in the United States, according to the American Human Society.
