The 30-Day Youth Summer Pass has everything kids need to get off the couch and out into Orange County fun, including a great low price, an enticing contest, and zombie thrills.
Yes, zombies. That’s the fun theme of this summer’s program, which encourages bored kids ages 6 to 18 to get moving and hop on a safe, clean, and convenient OCTA fixed-route bus and travel to great destinations like the beach, theme parks, and shopping.
Throughout the summer, OCTA will use social media to provide suggestions about great places to go, along with bits and pieces of a gripping zombie story. Kids from 13 to 18 can help finish the story by submitting a fun video, photo, or creative writing piece. Details on how to enter can be found here.
The Board recently voted to cut the cost of the $40 monthly youth pass in half for a limited time, a move that that is expected to appeal to parents who are footing the bill for their children’s transportation this summer. The Board authorized the use of fiscal year 2015 Low Carbon Transit Operations Program funds to subsidize the reduced fare.
Available for riders from 6 to 18, each 30-Day Youth Summer Pass costs $20 for unlimited rides for 30 consecutive days between June 1 and August 31, 2015. Passes are available at the OCTA Store, online, and at select local retailers.
