Recently extended by 8 miles, the 91 Express Lanes is a four-lane toll road built into the median of State Route 91 that provides 18 miles of safe, reliable, and predictable travel in Orange and Riverside counties.
All vehicles, including carpoolers, traveling on the 91 Express Lanes must properly display a FasTrak® or FasTrak® Flex® transponder linked to a valid account. A transponder is a small battery-powered device that transmits a radio signal. Equipment on the 91 Express Lanes reads the transponder information and uses it to deduct the correct toll amount from your account balance.
Express Accounts or One-Time-Toll payment accounts offered by the Toll Roads (State Routes 241, 261, 133 and 73) are not accepted on the 91 Express Lanes.
On the 91 Express Lanes, those with a FasTrak transponder and a pre-paid account save time without stopping to pay tolls. Transponders are available by mail or in person when signing up for an account for the 91 Express Lanes. A FasTrak® transponder issued by any of the California toll operators will also work on the 91 Express Lanes. For more information about the 91 Express Lanes, click here.
