The Orange Metrolink Parking Structure Is On the Rise

The multi-story structure being built to provide much-needed parking for Orange Transportation Center transit users and Old Towne Orange shoppers and diners is on the rise at the northwest corner of Lemon Street and Chapman Avenue.

Crews have completed pouring concrete for four of the five parking levels, and the decks of the final parking levels will be poured through the end of June. Work has begun on the exterior shear walls to add additional support. As work moves to the exterior of the new structure, crews will begin installing the brick façade to match the aesthetics of Old Towne Orange, a historic area packed with antique shops and considered one of the most popular downtowns in Orange County.

Scheduled to open in early 2019, the structure will house 611 parking spaces, 500 reserved for train riders and 111 designated for general use, which will more than triple the parking capacity of the 172-space lot it replaces.

This $33.2 million project is funded by the City of Orange, Measure M (also known as OC Go), the State Transportation Improvement Program, and the Federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program (CMAQ).
