Senator Bates Honored for Measure M Environmental Efforts

Senator Patricia Bates, a recent OCTA Board member, was honored by the Friends of Harbors, Beaches and Parks with the Green Vision Award for her extensive work, leadership and dedication to the Measure M Freeway Environmental Mitigation Program. Senator Bates served as chair of the mitigation program’s Environmental Oversight Committee for seven years while on the OCTA Board.

Senator Bates guided progress on preserving and protecting valuable open space land and forged agreements with wildlife agencies that will result in long term-benefits to the freeway improvement program. She championed a transparent and open process that resulted in real collaboration and cooperation from regulators and the environmental community. The results benefit both Orange County's environment and the Measure M freeway improvement program.
