Taxpayer Oversight Committee to Conduct Annual Measure M Public Hearing on Feb. 10

The Taxpayer Oversight Committee (TOC) will conduct its annual public hearing Feb. 10 on Measure M, the countywide ½ cent sales tax measure that funds transportation improvements and programs throughout Orange County.

The hearing begins at 6 p.m. at OCTA headquarters. Committee members will report on recent activities and receive comments from the public on the implementation of Measure M in the last year.

The independent, 11-member oversight committee serves as a voter safeguard to monitor OCTA’s use of Measure M funding, approve major changes to the Measure M plan and hold annual public hearings on the expenditure of funds generated by the sales tax measure.

Thanks to Measure M funding, hundreds of local projects that benefit Orange County residents every day have been completed with many more currently underway. Projects include lane additions and interchange improvements to almost every freeway in the county, street widening and intersection improvements, signal synchronization, water quality improvement projects and open space acquisition and restoration for environmental mitigation, funding for Metrolink commuter rail service in Orange County, and programs and discounted fares that increase mobility for seniors and persons with disabilities.
