Taxpayer Oversight Committee Says Hello and Goodbye to Members

A lottery conducted at the OCTA Board of Directors meeting June 11 resulted in the appointment of four new Measure M2 Taxpayer Oversight Committee (TOC) members, one each from the First, Second, Fourth and Fifth Supervisorial Districts. The list of candidates was provided by the Grand Jurors Association of Orange County Selection Panel. New TOC members include Dale Soeffner from Garden Grove (First District), Mark Kizzar from Huntington Beach (Second District), Larry A. Lang from Fullerton (Fourth District) and Neeki Moatazedi from Lake Forest (Fifth District).  Each will serve a 3-year term, which begins July 1, 2018.

Participation on the TOC requires dedication, time and commitment. The volunteers who serve on the TOC provide expertise and insight, resulting in thoughtful discussions regarding the implementation and oversight of Measure M2 (also known as OC Go). In recognition of this contribution to the citizens of Orange County, Resolutions of Appreciation were given to the following TOC members who have completed their terms: Anthony Villa (First District), Alan P. Dubin (Second District), Richard Rojas (Fourth District) and Guita Sharifi (Fifth District).

Each spring, as called for in the Measure M2 Ordinance, the Panel conducts an extensive recruitment process to fill vacancies left by TOC members whose terms have expired. The Panel reviews and conducts interviews with the applicants. This year, Panel members included Bill Underwood (Chair), Robin R. Bowen, Bette Flick, John Gallie and John J. Moohr.

Next year, recruitment for the committee will begin in March to fill vacancies representing the First, Third, Fourth and Fifth Supervisorial Districts.
