SR-91 Corridor Projects Win Several Awards

The Orange County Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers recently selected the 91 Express Lanes Pavement Rehabilitation Project as the year’s Outstanding Construction Project. Over eight weekends, OCTA and Caltrans construction crews safely and efficiently repaved the 42 miles that make up the four-lane, 10-mile 91 Express Lanes. No taxpayer dollars were used; funding for the $24.4 project came from tolls from the 91 Express Lanes. Learn more about the project here.

In addition, the 91 Westbound Lane Addition Project was honored as 2016’s Outstanding Transportation Project. OCTA and Caltrans added a new, four-mile westbound general purpose lane to SR-91 between SR-57 and I-5. The new lane provides a smoother and more efficient transition for motorists from the southbound 57 freeway to westbound 91. To read more about the project, click here.

The 91 Express Lanes Pavement Rehabilitation Project and SR-91 Tustin Bypass Project were also honored by the Orange County Engineering Council (OCEC) for engineering achievement. The Tustin Bypass Project extends a westbound lane from the northbound SR-55 west/ SR-91connector through the Tustin Avenue interchange and reconstructs a westbound auxiliary lane from the northbound SR-55/SR-91 connector to the Tustin Avenue off-ramp.
