Get on the Bus, Relax, and Let Someone Else Drive

Though fall doesn’t begin until late September, everyone knows that the Labor Day weekend is really the unofficial end of summer. And the Labor Day weekend is just around the corner.

Fortunately, there are several ways to relax and squeeze the most out the warm, lazy days left on the August calendar.

Through August 13, the OC Fair Express is the best weekend ride to the OC Fair. Buses depart from nine convenient locations on Saturdays and Sundays and provide rides from approximately 10 a.m. to midnight. A ride on the OC Fair Express costs $2 each way, or 75 cents for seniors age 60 and up and people with disabilities. In addition, OC Fair Express riders receive a coupon for $3 OC Fair admission. With that $11 savings, a fun trip on the OC Fair Express pays for itself. Learn more about the OC Fair Express here.

Another popular weekend service, the Laguna Beach Summer Breeze, also known as OC Bus Route 689, transports riders from a parking lot just off the I-405 all the way to the beach, connecting with popular places and events as well as the Laguna Beach Trolley. Free for passengers, the Laguna Beach Summer Breeze is a relaxing way to experience unique Laguna Beach events like the Sawdust Art & Craft Festival, the Pageant of the Masters, and productions at the Laguna Playhouse, as well as one-of-a-kind local shops and restaurants along Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and beautiful sandy beaches. At only $20 for 30 days of unlimited travel on fixed-route buses, the Youth Summer Pass is a great deal for kids 6 to 18. The pass is good through August 31 so the pass should be purchased soon to max out the savings. Check out the Youth Summer Pass here.

In addition, many fixed-route OC Bus routes serve beaches and parks. Check out Route 29 to Huntington Beach and Route 1 to Dana Point Harbor and San Clemente State Beach. Find out more about OC Bus destinations here
