Enjoy the San Clemente Beach Trail

Whether you bike, walk, or run along the San Clemente Beach Trail, you’re sure to enjoy the 2.3 miles of great scenery between North and Calafia beaches.

Running Competitor magazine chose it as one of its running trails of the week, calling it a “vacation-y, soak-it-all-in trail run that’s a reminder of all the beauty this world has to offer” in this article.

This is a popular trail, and especially in the summer. You’ll likely encounter fellow walkers, joggers, casual cyclists and dog owners.  Check out these tips from the City of San Clemente for safe and enjoyable travel along the San Clemente Beach Trail.

For your safety, remember to stay on the trail at all times and avoid trespassing on the OCTA-owned rail corridor, which runs parallel to the beach. Please cross the tracks only at designated crossings. When a train approaches, a warning signal will be emitted from granite bollards at each crossing. Established through a cooperative effort involving OCTA, the City of San Clemente, the Federal Railroad Administration, the California Public Utilities Commission and Metrolink, this audible warning system eliminates the requirement for the routine sounding of train-mounted horns but minimizes noise in surrounding neighborhoods.
